Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome to the end of week 2!
To any parent who’s been for meetings this week; who has turned up to a community conversation; who has made sure that children were in the correct uniform- Yr 4 in mufti for Tuesday for Accendre Retreat at the Surf Club; Crazy socks on Wednesday; Thursday sport for S2 and S3 for surfing and K-2 today Friday for school sport.
Let’s just say your help in making sure our very busy program went some what smoothly, is appreciated. I am sitting outside the community radio station writing this today on principal pick up ‘listening to Flame Trees as their final song choice. This is the song we use for our Year 6 tunnel at the end of the year and then I got scared by how close the end of the year is!
Please keep track of the calendar at the top of the newsletter as this is really a very full and wonderful term to be involved.
Have a great weekend.

RE News
School Parish Mass- this Saturday 5:30pm at St James Catholic Church Yamba. All families are warmly invited to join us for our school parish Mass this Saturday evening. We have some Stage 3 students reading at Mass and we would love to see our families there.
Socktober
A massive thank you to all our incredible families for making Socktober a great success!
Because of your generosity, we were able to raise an amazing $232! These funds will directly support the Catholic Mission’s vital work in Zambia. Your donation will help ensure vulnerable children have access to essential food and education, giving them a real opportunity to break the cycle of poverty and build a brighter future for their communities. Thank you for making a difference

Sport News
Athletics
Well done to Jake who competed at the NSW PSSA Athletics Carnival in Sydney on Wednesday. Jake finished
26th in the Senior Boys 1500m, which was a fantastic effort against the best runners in NSW! There was
plenty of excitement in the classrooms as we all cheered him on via the livestream of the event. Well done on
your efforts Jake!
Triathlon
The Yamba Triathlon is happening on Sunday the 30th November and this year they have a new initiative
happening called the “Schools Challenge”. The school with the most number of students/teachers/parents
entered into the triathlon event will receive a $500 donation towards sporting goods for their school thanks to
Yamba Multisport Club. So if any children and/or parents in our school community are thinking of entering this
event, please make sure you select St James Yamba as your school when completing your entry.
All the information about the triathlon event and how to enter can be found via the event website at
www.yambatri.org
Stage 1 News
We are excited to introduce you to two new students - Indie and Jevin, who have settled into our class beautifully. It is such a joy to watch how welcoming and inclusive our Stage 1 students are when new students arrive.
English
We have been reading a wonderful book called The March of the Ants by Ursula Dubosarsky. We are learning to understand how real and imagined characters can be represented using text structure, words and images. Check out some of the writing responses from Alessia, Lewis and Frank. We are very proud of our use of quotation marks for simple dialogue. Ask us to explain some of the rules around using speech marks.

Investigations
We currently have a new Dramatic Play space called The Kiosk Cafe. Students are involved in designing menus, using play money and delivering orders. Check out the photos of the team in action!

Music
This term in Creative Arts our subject is Music. We are learning that songs are made up of rhythm, melody and words. We started the term sharing our musical experience and taste, and not surprisingly Taylor Swift and K-Pop Demon Hunters are at the top of the Stage 1 list.
We have created artworks to represent our feelings about music… check them out!

Carrs Drive-
The basic new rule is - stop behind the yellow line on the road in the pick up line on Carrs Drive. Wait for the space to clear inside the school before you drive forward. . .
This Information for Parents and Carers has been provided by CVC. This new plan is coming into action by the Clarence Valley Council after the school holidays and will be patrolled by council rangers.
From the start of next term, you will notice new line marking on Carrs Drive. These changes are being introduced to improve safety for students and families.
- Yellow Line = No Stopping
The yellow line means vehicles cannot stop along this section of road at any time. This prevents queuing in the marked area and ensures drivers have clear sight distance when exiting the kiss-and-drop zone. - Arrive After the Bell
To reduce congestion, please arrive at the school zone after the bell. Arriving too early creates unnecessary queuing on Carrs Drive. - How Kiss-and-Drops Should Work
The kiss-and-drop zone is designed to function like an airport drop-off/pick-up: - Stop only long enough for your child to get in or out safely.
- The continuity line C1 is how far out you can safely pull on departure without interacting with the traffic.
